BDO-EPCI Merger

Now, it is official. The merger between Banco de Oro (BDO) and Equitable PCI (EPCI) will push thru. Received the news from our office e-mail this Tuesday. Unlike the previous merger between Equitable Bank and PCI Bank, can't help but worry. With the Equitable Bank and PCI Bank merger, it is our bank who is buying out the other. With the new merger, we would be the ones being "eaten". Haayyy...

Yesterday, our bank's senior officers were called for a meeting. What went on on said meeting was immediately relayed to us, down the line. Up until this day, the topic was what went on on said meeting.

Oh, no! My fear is slowly taking shape...

Words that sent shivers to information technology guys: "Wala namang problema sa sistema namin..." (Translation: There seems to be no problem with our system...)

  • Without even a gap analysis, there is already a "verdict" as to what system to use.

  • Since the systems have been "chosen", obviously, the most affected personnel are those whose systems they are handling/managing will be "dropped".

  • Their system's platform is different from ours. Theirs is Linux, Java, etc. Ours is Microsoft, Visual Basic, .Net, COBOL/CICS, etc.

  • Have they considered the volume of transactions? Can their system handle it? It is midrange versus mainframe. Have they realized that big banks are using mainframe? To cite: Metrobank, BPI, RCBC, Citibank, etc.

  • Just to see the discrepancy in the volume: their transactions for a month is our transactions for a day.

There was a "joke" going around (I think there is some truth about it) as to the reason they are interested in "buying" our bank is because of our credit card system and remittance unit...

Oh! If you know of an opening, "tag" me... c",)

hi girl. naku mergers can be traumatic especially if it will involve losing key personnel due to redundancies. lets just pray that nothing of that sort happens. naku if in case naman i'm sure di ka mahihirapan maghanap. ikaw pa eh gifted child ka. hehehe. ;-)
