Novena For Our Dear Dead

WORDS OF POPE SAINT GREGORY

1.  O Jesus Christ, our Lord, who to redeem us was crowned with thorns and was crucified, we adore and beseech You taht Your Cross be our defense against our evil enemies.
     OUR FATHER and HAIL MARY.

2.  O Jesus Christ, our Lord, Who to redeem us, endured so much sufferings and drank gall and vinegar, we adore and beseech You that Your sufferings be the cure of our soul.
     OUR FATHER and HAIL MARY. 

3.  O Jesus Christ, our Lord, by the bitterness You suffered on the Cross because of our sins, particularly when your soul parted from Your Body, we beseech You to have mercy on our soul on the day of its departure from this world.

4.  O Jesus Christ, our Lord, Who to redeem us, Your Sacred Body was anointed and buried, we adore and beseech You that Your death be our life.
     OUR FATHER and HAIL MARY.

5.  O Jesus Christ, our Lord, Who descended to the limbo of the Holy Father and freed those who were imprisoned there, we adore and beseech You not to permit our soul to be imprisoned in hell.

6.  O Jesus Christ, our Lord, Who with great power resurrected Yourself and ascended to Heaven, where You seated at the right of God the Father, we pray You to have mercy on us.

7.  O Jesus Christ, our Lord, the good Shepherd, defend the just, enlighten the sinners, have mercy on the faithful departed, and on us, great sinners.

8.  O Jesus Christ, our Lord, Who will come to judge us, to bring the just to Your glory and the sinners to eternal punishment, we adore and beseech You that Your Passion may free us from all pains and bring us to eternal life.

9.  O most loving Father, we offer You the innocent death of Your Son and the loves of His Divine heart for the pains that we, poor sinners, above all other sinners, deserve;  we also offer this Passion and cordial love for all our relatives and friends.  We beseech You to have mercy on us.

Prayer

O Jesus Christ, or Lord, we humbly beseech Yout og rant us the pardon and graces that are accorded by St. Gregory to those who, through these holy prayers rever the mysteries of Your great Passion, Who live and reign forever and ever.
