Nanny McPhee

Woken up by a phone call. I am invited to my godson's birthday party! Doing overnight work two nights in a row, would have loved to be just tucked in bed. But then...

After lunch, left for Glorietta to buy my gift. Since there is still lots of time, decided to watch Nanny McPhee.

Nanny McPhee is the answer to Mr. Brown's wishes to have a nanny for his seven unruly kids. The kids managed to drive away 17 of their previous nannies. Nanny McPhee reminds you of Mary Poppins, but unlike the latter, Nanny McPhee is no beauty, but manages her way with the kids. She has her charm on her own.

She has five lessons to teach the kids (and their dad?). As she said, she'll stay when she's not wanted; but she'll leave when she's wanted...

After the movie, picked up the gift I have wrapped and went to Max's for the party. After the party, went to the office to try "to fight fire". c",)

Finally!

After one year of user acceptance testing, we are finally rolling out the system. It would be a pilot implementation. And for one month, a staggered implementation as offices are added.

The implementation would take two sleepless nights: from Thursday (March 23) morning, where all necessary activities has to be done to set-up the system, up to the wee hours of Friday (March 24), where the first transaction will come in, up to Friday night going Saturday (March 25), monitoring the batch, until 9PM of Saturday, where we will receive the final feedback from the users as they review the reports...

In between...

* Left the office to go back home around 11AM of Friday for a few shut-eye. But since it is my niece's graduation, the longest shut eye I got is 20 minutes, as she keeps coming to my room after she was made-up, after she has worn her gala uniform, etc. since I have to take her picture. Around 4PM, have to go back to the office. Haayyy... have to miss her graduation. She got a bronze medal!

* Morning of Saturday, a major problem occurred. Have to coordinate with a lot of people to "fight the fire". Have to stay up to 9PM as I have to wait for the feedback on the result of the first day of our implementation. Haayyy... have to miss my other niece's graduation. And to think, she was their batch's salutatorian! And it is also my other niece's birthday (the one who had her graduation the previous day.)

In any case, can consider the implementation of this very big project a success... inspite of the hitches.

Emerald, Game Ka Na Ba?

First, it was a birthday treat at the Emerald Garden Restaurant. Have to leave early for lunch as the restaurant is some distance from the office. The trip was definitely worth it as we had our fill.

After office, it's our Group's social event. This time, it's a spoof of TV game shows. Every time there is a social event, we have a souvenir. This time, it's a gas lamp (lampara). Last year, it was a flashlight. Guess, we're going back to the basics... c",)

She's The Man

There are lots of movies showing this week that I wanted to see. Started of with She's The Man.

Viola Johnson disguises herself as her twin brother, Sebastian, after the latter went to London for a gig. Totally different, Viola is athletic as Sebastion is into music. In his brother's school, Viola started to fall for her roommate, Duke, who has only has eyes for Olivia, who is falling for Sebastian (a.k.a. Viola).

A romance/comedy movie, for every scene, you can hear giggles from moviegoers. In the last part of the movie where Duke was wearing a tux, as if there's a conductor, you can hear the audience say at the same time, "Ang guwapo!" hehehe!

After the movie, attended the anticipated Mass and had dinner at Pancake. My niece joined us at Pancake as we (my niece and I) would be searching the mall for a cocktail dress for her graduation ball. And in time, too! There's a double midnight madness at Glorietta. After combing the shops and several trips to the dressing room, finally bought a dress, a pair of earrings, a hair accessory and a pair of shoes. (",)

A Fountain, A Parting and A Bike

Yesterday, bought a water fountain. It is said: "In line with the Feng Shui philosophy fountains of water are an invitation to blend and not struggle, to flow with life, to endure continual change. By reconnecting with natural elements such as water, stones and plants, we can be revitalized by the subtle currents of life force and beauty that flow through the landscape. In this way we nourish our human spirit." (From http://www.croftstudios.co.uk/fengshui.html)

Today, learned that a friend would be going to the U.S. He would be studying there around May and settle there with an ex-girlfriend (obviously, no longer an ex) by September.

Today, bought my niece her birthday and graduation gift. Picked her up from school and proceeded to the mall to buy her gift. She was definitely excited! c",)

iPod Nano daw...

Read in a post in an internet site that he saw in a certain mall an MP3 player that looks exactly like an iPod Nano but costs cheaper and has FM station. Two others seconded this statement.

Informed a friend about this. Since she's interested and am going to that mall anyway to return something I bought, told her I would look for it and verify if it is true.

After returning the item and have my lunch, started searching for that iPod Nano look-a-like. Took some time but was able to find it! It sure does look like an iPod Nano... Hmmm... Then, went to Glorietta to check a store which sells the actual item. You really can't tell the difference!

Since there is not much time left for a movie, just went window-shopping at Glorietta. Then, attended the anticipated Mass and had dinner at heaven 'n eggs. c",)

The Dark

Date Movie
Last Holiday
The Dark
Underclassman
Yours, Mine and Ours

Because of the e-mail chat last night, decided to tick off first from my list the horror movie. So, off to Glorietta to watch the movie The Dark.

Being promoted as based from a true story, the movie is actually derived from a Welsh folklore/mythology. Annwyn is the Otherworld, the land of souls that had departed from the world. It is said that one can reach Annwyn by dying. But it can be visited by a living person if he/she can find the "door". It was believed that by sacrificing a living, you can get back a deceased. This is the premise being followed by the movie.

A mourning couple who just lost their daughter from drowning, they meet a mysterious child who claims she has been dead for 60 years. Obviously, the couple would like to believe that this child would know how to get their daughter back from the dead. There are scenes that would surprise you; but, definitely, there is a twist in the story. c",)

Final Destination: Outback

It's back to my normal Saturday routine: Movies, anticipated Mass and dinner at the mall's restaurant (with shopping in between)... c",)

This time, it's Final Destination 3. The third of its installment, the venue is at an amusement park's roller coaster. (The first two are in an airplane and a highway accident.) Following the same premise as the first two, one of the characters of the movie has a premonition that proves true. Those who have "cheated death" and survived the accident are forced to face the repurcussions of escaping their fate. Inspite knowing this, one is still wondering how each of the characters would finally meet their fate. In fact, at the end of the movie, some moviegoers clapped.

After the movie, heard the anticipated Mass and had dinner at Outback Restaurant where one of my friends treat us for her birthday. We had Aussie Cheese Fries, Crispy Chicken Strips Oriental Salad, Queensland Chicken and Shrimp pasta, Chocolate Thunder From Down Under for dessert and bottomless soda. Burp!
