Stolen... Again?!

Was in our Makati office for today. This is be able to address issues on the systems I am handling that is being used by my users who are based in our Makati office. Anyway, I always enjoy being in Makati. For one, it is nearer our home; thus, I am not that tired when I reach home from work. Second, our office set-up/environment is conducive to working.

With my friend, we had lunch at McDonald's Jupiter branch. It is only when we are about to finish our meal that I noticed that my wallet is missing!!! I immediately went to the counter to ask if they noticed if a wallet was left in the counter. Negative. Then, it must have been snatched right under my nose!!!! And to think, the last payment for the Neo eXplore was given to me this morning and is in my wallet. Hayyy...

Immediately left the fast food to report my ATM cards and credit cards stolen. Then, went back to McDonald's to inquire if they have a camera. Negative.

What is trying about the whole incident? Aside from losing my money, the hassle of having my cards replaced. Hayyyy.... again.

The Dark Knight

The reviews for Prom Night and Meet Dave is not that exciting. Besides, its my weekend to watch The Dark Knight.

Having "cleaned-up" Gotham City with the help of Lt. Jim Gordon and Assistant District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman has to face a psychopath named Joker.

The story is intelligent and kind-of sad, what with what happened to "two-faced" Harvey. Joker upstages Batman with the performance made by Heath Ledger. Come to think of it, another Batman movie with Jack Nicholson as the Joker also upstages Batman. I find the statement "copied" from another movie by Joker to Batman ("You complete me") funny; but, that is what Batman is to Joker, Marcos is to Ninoy, Ate Guy is to Ate Vi... hehehe!

After the movie, attended the anticipated Mass.

Bought me a Lexma Nano Mouse. It boasts of nano anti-bacteria technology, for a safer and healthier environment. c",)

Musical Chairs

First, it was the announcement this week that our group head would be stepping down. Of course, there were a lot of guess-work as to who would be replacing her.

But then, the one occupying near my cubicle has also resigned and left her room vacant. Now, my boss would be moving to the nicer room. Oh, no! He would be near me.

Of course, his secretary should be within shouting distance. Thus, exchanged cubicle with her. The farther, the better. Hehehe!

Grab-A-Byte

(Note: I am writing this at Burger King, Glorietta using my MSI Wind.)

Decided not to watch The Dark Knight this weekend, for surely, there will be a long queue to the cinemas. Thus, decided to try out my new "toy" and do some surfing at the mall.

Aside from free mobile phone charging, when you grab a bite at Burger King, you can also grab a byte to surf the internet using their WiFi network... which I am doing right now. A good come-on for net-savvy people like me... hehehe! (joke)

Well, would be spending my time here while waiting for the 5PM Mass at Glorietta 4. I wonder where would we be having our dinner...?

Having fully-charged my MSI Wind, decided to leave Burger King and just use my Airborne Access. Was able to get a signal infront of Marks and Spencer. Sat down and started playing games. Kids waiting for the Mass to start were watching me play and even doing their own sound effects... hehehe!

Decided to check You Tube about the World Youth Day held in Australia. Heard there were rallies and even the protesters gave or threw condoms to the pilgrims. Tsk! Tsk!

Tested my speed and it reached more than 1.2MBPS!

Journey To The Center Of The Earth

Was not able to watch it last weekend because of the photo shoot. Decided to do it after office; lest it would no longer be shown in the theaters considering today is the opening of The Dark Knight (Batman).

Journey To The Center Of The Earth is an action, adventure, fantasy movie starring Brendan Fraser. As expected, you will see Brendan Fraser's humor in his character as Trevor, a scientist, who set out on a journey with his nephew, Sean, and a mountain guide (Hannah)to look for his missing brother. What they found is a lost world in the center of the Earth. The action is great and effects is as expected. I wonder how the movie would look like in 3D...?

Magic Eraser

Having a white sub-notebook, one comes become O.C. in case it gets dirty. Thus, last night, surfed the internet to check what best cleaner for a white laptop/sub-notebook. In one of the forums, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser was mentioned.

Good thing, I found the Magic Eraser being sold at True Value, Park Square 1. One box contains two foams. Since it is too big for cleaning the keyboard, cut the foam into three.

Tried it on my desktop's keyboard (of course, not with my new sub-notebook which still looks pristine). It's simply amazing!

Check the image I took. Compare the arrow/insert/delete keys and numeric keypad against the QWERTY keys. c",)

New Look

My day started by bringing my car to the service center for its regular check-up. After which, a photo shoot with my niece and her friend for their mini-"project". Something to do with Super Junior. Huh?! Really, I have no idea.

I believe there are three categories: picture showing the landmark of your country, something creative, and a room full of blue (?) balloons. The chosen landmark is our country's "16th century military defense structure, stands witness to the valor and heroism of the Filipino through the centuries".

After the shoot, went to Greenbelt to have my new MSI Wind G-Masked. Nice... definitely an improvement! Plus protection to boot.

While the girl was "beauty masking" my new sub-notebook, Mac Air was mentioned in our chit-chat. Hmmmm... MSI Wind, Mac Air, Wind, Air, Wind, Air... Could something be there which I could not put my finger on? Hehehe!

Then, attended the anticipated Mass and had dinner at Italianni's.

MSI Wind and Neo eXplore X1

I've been waiting for Acer Aspire One to be released here. Unfortunately, the specs of the sub-notebook that will be initially released is not what I was hoping for. Looks like I would have to wait for a looooooooooong time for the Windows XP version with 3G capability to arrive.

Thus, switched my sights on MSI Wind. The only color available is pink. The white one is already out of stock! To think, it is just a few days when it was introduced...

But what to do with my Neo eXplore X1? A friend was buying it. I hated for it to go, but what would I do with two sub-notebooks? Had a nice time with my X1. And ever reliable. Even had a funny incident when I brought it to McDonald's one Sunday.

Once I arrived home, installed all the software I wanted. And then... my video editor does not work in my MSI Wind!!! The computer's resolution should be 1024x768. MSI Wind is 1024x600. Guess, I have to make-do with Windows Movie Maker, the video editor whose minimum requirement is 800x600. (My Neo eXplore X1 has no problem with my video editor.)

August 8, 2008, Sunday

After using the MSI Wind for a month, over-all, I can say I made a good buy!!! (",)

Framed Shots: Still Life

Today's the monthly meeting of our camera club--the photo contest theme is "Still Life". But first, there's a mini-workshop on Adobe Photoshop conducted by Mr. Parc Cruz and Mr. Borj Meneses.

(Removed videos)

Parc Cruz also shared his workflow.

(Removed videos)

The following are the photos I submitted for "Still Life":

I have not thought through when I posted the videos I took. Sorry. Already put them down.

Hancock

My usual movie weekend. This time, it's the action, drama, fantasy movie Hancock, starring Will Smith, Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron.

A superhero unlike any superhero, Hancock (Will Smith) is an alcoholic, who often causes more destruction when he tries to help, making him unpopular. Then, a PR executive, Ray (Jason Bateman), wanted to turn this around when Hancock saved him from being crushed by a train. Ray also introduced Hancock to his family. Meeting Ray's wife, Mary (Charlize Theron), Hancock seems drawn to her. That, eventually, gives us an idea of who Hancock really is.

There's action, there's comedy, and I like how the three actors fit their role. In short, I like it. c".)

After the movie, attended the anticipated Mass and had dinner at Superbowl.
