The Coffee Farmhouse

It is P-Noy's inauguration. It is also our office's camera club mid-year planning and team building. Our venue would be at The Coffee Farmhouse. I would be the facilitator for the activity.

It would be a four-car group, all coming from different directions. Meet-up is at Shell-SLEX before proceeding to the venue. Plan is to be at The Coffee Farmhouse by 8AM. This is because it would be a long day for the group.

All in all, we can say the activity is successful. The place is beautiful, made more so by the warm welcome and hospitality of the owners.

John Chua's Car Photography 101

I was one of the lucky thirty (30) photographers to be part of a (free) car photography 101 workshop of Mr. John Chua. It is a collaboration of Canon and Honda. We were to submit any Honda car photo in Club EOS, and from there, the thirty photographers will be chosen.

Meeting place is at Gloria Jeans in Mall of Asia (MOA) for the registration, breakfast and a short briefing. Afterwhich, we walked to the parking lot in front of SMX, where two (2) CRVs were already parked. This is where the first activity of the day would take place.

We, then, proceeded to Mr. John Chua's studio, Adphoto, for brunch, lecture and for us to choose one picture for the shoot that morning. He chose five images from the entries. My photo came third as the second place was chosen by placing himself (John Chua) in the shoes of the client, Honda. My photo was his preference for it is an example of a photographer expressing his/her creativity.

We were shown how a studio is set-up when taking photos of cars. The idea is "bounce".

The last shoot that day would be at Cavite, 500 meters from the toll gate. But before proceeding there, we had our merienda.

Since we don't have a permit, we spent just a few minutes there. Then pack-up was called. Uh-oh! Dinner this time? LOL

We again are to choose one of our images taken at SMX or at Cavite. From there, the finalists will be chosen. While choosing, have to choose the photo thinking of the client. I guess, there goes creativity. Hehehe!

My photo was included in the semi-finalist.

An Attempt At "Heal The World"

Although I have conceptualized it, it is different when you try to execute it.

Been thinking of images to take for the monthly photo theme "Heal The World". What I have in mind is recycling. The one I found on the internet are tetra packs that were used as materials for bags and wallets. It is being sold in Europe and it was being made here in the Philippines!!! Further surfing, learned the industry is found at Marikina City.

My friend who lives at Marikina tried to trace it. She advised me (from feedback from her brother), it was being made at the gymnasium of Jem Subdivision at Parang, Marikina.

So, met a friend at Cubao Station of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) at 9AM. We took an FX to Parang. Then, a tricycle to bring us to Jem Subdivision.

Even with well-laid plans, it is bound to break. The wallet and bag making using tetra packs is no longer existing. Instead, they are using old newspapers to make baskets, jewelry, etc. Unfortunately, no one is there doing the product. Thus, we have to make do with taking photos of their end-product.

On the side, we tried to take photos of Honda cars for Club EOS' contest.

When we had our fill, took a jeepney back to Cubao, ate lunch at Teriyaki Boy in Gateway, took the MRT and stepped off at Magallanes Station. Went to Waltermart to visit our exhibit at the Camera Club of the Philippines Center (CCPC). Again, we have to fix the skewed images.

Before proceeding home, bought a gallon of ice cream. Hehehe!

15th Graphic Expo/Photo Video Expo

Went to SMX to visit the 15th Graphic Expo back to back with Photo Video Expo. The expo is from June 17-19, 2010. One of my photos is on exhibit there. c",)

Also, I would be attending PCCI's 10th Anniversary Celebration. Met several PCCI instructors, including the Tilak Hettige.

Was able to buy some items, including macro kit for my Lensbaby, a 31cm Matin collapsible reflector, even a t-shirt stating "I (heart) (Canon camera)". Hehehe!

I was able to get a plaque of appreciation from PCCI plus a gift certificate, won an "EF Lens Work III: The Eyes of EOS" in a raffle, and brought home my photo on display (which was printed for us by Canon).

June Birthdays

As a gift, I would be treating the June celebrants today. There would be four (4) plus one (my Nanay, deceased). Our usual meeting place is at the second floor of the Mall of Asia (MOA). I just decide then and there which restaurant we would be having the birthday lunch.

Our lunch is at Italianni's. Good thing, I've got my bff for a discount.

After lunch, watched The A-Team. It is a comedy, action film from the famous TV show. It is funny and kind of silly; but, it works. And there's action. Enjoyed it.

La Mesa Ecopark Photo Marathon

Joined our office's camera club activity for today. It would be a photo marathon at the La Mesa Ecopark. We patterned the mechanics after Canon's Photo Marathon. I am the one who came up with two (2) themes.

As early as 7:15AM, already at our office's car park to pick four (4) photo marathoners. As early as 8AM, the marathoners are slowly arriving at the venue.

The themes I came up with are:

THEME 1:
A smile.
A laugh.
A hug.
Nothing beats unguarded moments while enjoying nature surrounding you.

THEME 2:
Beauty not immediately see;
But looking closely,
A different world may soon be discovered.

I was also one of the judges.

All in all, we can say the activity is a success as everyone who joined is clamoring for similar activity.

Dropped two (2) at the Glorietta and then went to Waltermart. We ate at Max's in Waltermart and went to the Camera Club of the Philippines Center (CCPC) to check our photos on exhibit. Fixed the images that were falling and arranged the skewed frames.

After, went back to Glorietta to attend the anticipated Mass.

Framed Shots: In The Eyes Of A Child

It would be our camera club's meeting today and the theme would be "In The Eyes Of A Child". Aside from the judging of the photos, there would be audio-visual presentation (AVP) and on-the-spot (OTS) shoot. The OTS would be a group and individual activity. We would be taking pictures of paper cuts.

One of my entries was short-listed to the top 15. Yey!

Did not finish the meeting and left early. I was dropped off at Glorietta where I met my niece. We would be watching a movie, have dinner and eat Tutti Frutti yogurt.

Marmaduke
is a comedy, family entertainment film. A family moves into a suburban neighborhood, bringing with them their (mexican-sounding) cat and their lovable but trouble-making great dane, Marmaduke. Marmaduke must now understand his standing in his new neighborhood, while helping also his owner in the process.

The movie is funny and cute. Would you believe, I also shed a tear when Marmaduke... (no spoiler. hehehe!)

After the movie, ate at Meister's in Food Choices, bought Tutti Frutti yogurt and went to The Ramp. My niece wanted to buy a bling-bling. She also bought me one when she saw a camera as a pendant. Nice! c",)

Shape-Up Killers!

(Writing this at Food Choices...)

Walked my way to Waltermart-Makati in order to visit our exhibit at the Camera Club of the Philippines Center (CCPC). But first, had lunch at a Mongolian restaurant.

Then, checked our exhibit. There's a seminar ongoing.

Since I was already there, decided to watch a movie at Waltermart. It's Killers, an action, comedy film starring Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl.

An unsuspecting woman falls in love with an undercover government assassin while on vacation with her parents. She marries him. After three years, their marriage is under siege as a group of deadly hitmen were hired to take out the husband/assassin. The movie is funny and the lead characters have chemistry. But then, again, suspend your disbelief just to enjoy the movie because the lead characters must be really that good to dodge all the bullets even from trained assassins. LOL

(Writing this at home...)

After, went to Glorietta to attend the anticipated Mass and had dinner at a Veneto Pizzeria Ristorante.

Skechers Shape-Ups

(Writing this at the office...)

Went to Glorietta for lunch. Decided to buy the Skechers Shape-Ups which I plan to wear after office while walking my way from the office to Ayala Center. It would be Day 1 for my non-gym regimen. Hehehe!
