Transformers

It's my movie day!

Two of four of Glorietta 1 Cinemas and six of seven of Glorietta 4 Cinemas are showing the Tranformers.

Transformers is a movie version of the animated TV show which the kids and kids-at-heart of the '80s enjoyed. An action, adventure, sci-fi flick, it is definitely action-packed from beginning to end. The humans provided a trickle of humor (although the robots, themselves, also provided funny scenes). Sure would love to have as my car an Autobot. c",)

A Semi-Finalist!

Yes!!! I received an e-mail from Cutest Pet Contest that Teewee's photo was chosen to be included in the Cutest Pets Around The World coffee table book. Also, Teewee's photo was "unanimously selected... as a semi-finalist in the contest".

Click here to see the picture I submitted in the contest.

Lock & Lock

Been conference chatting with the friends I made while attending photography workshops conducted by the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation (FPPF). One of the topics discussed were lens. One mentioned that he bought a Lock & Lock to store his lens, plus silica gel. One reminded that one of the instructors at FPPF suggested using Tupperware to store the lens.

After office, went to the mall and looked for the item I can store my lens (currently, they are neatly tucked in my camera bag/s). Was able to buy a 21 liter Lock & Lock storage container. I also requested the saleslady to put inside the plastic bubble wrap which I can use to line up the bottom of the container.

All my lens (with my Canon EOS 350D) fit in nicely... c",)

FPPF: First Monthly Critic Hour

Today's the first of the monthly critic hour. Our batch of the Advanced Photography Workshop would be the pioneer of FPPF's vision of continuous learning on photography. We definitely learned something with the exchange of opinions by professional photographers on our work.

The next Critic Hour is on July 29. The theme is product photography. Each one of us should bring three (3) pictures.

After lunch, we sat-in on the lecture of the ongoing Advanced Photography Workshop as the topic is painting by light.

The gadgets needed (aside from a camera and a tripod) is an auto-thyristor flash and/or torch (flashlight). With the camera at bulb setting (an f/16 apperture can be used and ISO 100), you can illuminate specific parts of the subject/s. To focus the light, use a (5-inch) tube.

Oh! If you want to use ice in your product photography, you can use an acrylic ice cube. Sure beats your problem of the ice melting before you even take picture of the product... c",)

Silver Surfer

Already on its second week, it is still being shown in two (2) of the seven (7) theaters at Glorietta 4.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is an action, sci-fi, thriller movie wherein the Fantastic 4 (Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben) are faced with an unknown force, the Silver Surfer, who can cause Earth's destruction. The Silver Surfer is the herald of Galactus, who prepares the latter's arrival to a planet, to consume it (planet) and satisfy its appetite. Aside from this, an old enemy resurfaces, Dr. Doom.

After the movie, attended the anticipated Mass and had dinner at Italianni's.

Pet Photography?

Lately, been looking forward to go home immediately after office, this is because I wanted to play with Teewee, a three-month old sharpei. With his doleful eyes and funny antics, one can't help but fall in love with this ball of fur.

Of course, expect me to get lots of pictures. Sure is hard to take pictures of pets, one really has to be patient. I even was able to take a picture of Teewee wherein he was looking at the camera, but my hand shook. Solution? Edited the image as if it was a watercolor painting... c",)

Dog Show at Tiendesitas

Prepared all the pictures I would be developing of the event I covered last night (hehehe!). This morning, stepped out of the house for a few hours to have them developed.

My brother invited me to join them at Tiendesitas to watch a dog show. This is the first time I would be going there. It was arranged in such a way that they call them "villages". There's a Pet Village, Antiques Village, Novelty Village, Food Village, etc. The highlight of my visit there is the ongoing dog show. There are German Shepherd, Chow-Chow, Shitzu, Boston Terrier, Rottweiller, etc.

Oh! And I also bought a toy ball for Teewee. It is heavy duty and you can put dog food inside it. According to the lady who sold the item to me, it can also be used for training the dog.

Birthday Walk Through

Have to wake up early as I still have to go to the office to attend the walk through of the activities pertaining to the major project of our company. But first, dropped by at my desk to change Fifi's water; then, proceeded to the seminar(?). It took the whole morning.

After the walk through, proceeded to Ayala Center to buy a gift for my aunt who would be celebrating her 70th birthday. My cousin organized a surprise party for her and I am the official photographer of the event (hehehe!). We were supposed to be at her house by 5:30PM.

Boy! Was she surprised. As soon as she stepped out of their car, started taking pictures. Even paparazzi taking pictures of celebrities are no match to me! LOL.

Birthday Treat at Dad's

Two of my friends gave a lunch birthday treat at Dad's. Thus, as early as 11:30AM, we left the office so our (buffet) lunch would truly be worth it.

Our bottomless iced tea came up with a stuff toy. Got me a tan (stuff) dog! c",)

Philippine Independence Day

The Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation came up with the idea for a continuous learning and improve on our photographic skills. Every month, we would meet and present the pictures we took, depending on the agreed theme, for critic. For this month, it would be the Philippine Independence Day and character portrait.

Since today was declared a non-working holiday, in lieu of the Philippine Independence Day tomorrow, June 12, decided to go to Luneta (Rizal's Shrine) and the area around Roxas Boulevard to take pictures which I can submit for the Philippine Independence Day theme.

What do you think? I am kinda partial to the pigeon looking at Rizal's Shrine... c",)

Fiesta Birthday

It's Nana's birthday. Decided to treat her for lunch at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA), touted to be one of the top three biggest mall.

But first, took some pictures of the dogs. Found in the internet a contest for the cutest pet dog. Prize is said to be USD 10,000.00. No harm in trying...

Around 11:30AM, we are already on the way to the MOA. Good thing, too. They have an activity to celebrate the Philippine Independence Day. They called it Fiesta Fever at MOA. We arrived just in time for the start of the Philippine-like Mardi Gras.

After seeing the parade, we went to Italianni's for the lunch birthday treat. We had Sicilian Chicken Salad, Classic Pizza, Penne Verdure, Penne Arrabiato, Pork Chop and bottomless drinks. Burp!

We then strolled around the mall before proceeding home. That's when we caught a presentation of Filipino dances. Of course, there is the famous tinikling. They even asked volunteers from the audience to try their hands on the tinikling.

One thing is sure, the birthday celebrant enjoyed her day out. c",)

Meet The Robinsons

Went first to the office to try to "revive" the lucky bamboo given to me as a gift by a friend. Last night, bought a bigger vase and magic jelly. The magic jelly would replace the water and soil for my plant. As advised by the saleslady, with the magic jelly, no need to water the plant. If the magic jelly shrivels, just soak it in the water for twenty minutes.

Then, proceeded to Ayala Center to watch Meet The Robinsons at Glorietta 4 Cinema. An animation, comedy, family film. It is entertaining, aside from giving life's lessons (from animation? hehehe!). Thus, KEEP MOVING FORWARD.

After the movie, bought gifts, attended the anticipated Mass and had dinner at Pancake House.

Paano Kita Iibigin

There's a problem with my printer. Troubleshooting guide says that I should replace it with an appropriate ink. I did just that, but still, the printer does not recognize it. Thus, first thing in the morning, brought it to the Canon Service Center (I am never at ease if one of my things are not working as it should be... LOL). And the problem? They just cleaned the contacts! And they did not charge me for it... YES!

After bringing my printer back home, proceeded to Ayala Center to watch Paano Kita Iibigin. It is a romantic drama movie about Martee (Regine Velasquez), a single mom with an asthmatic son, and Lance (Piolo Pascual), a depressed widowed resort owner. Fate has brought this two people, both with emotional baggage, together. Will they move on and learn to leave their "baggage" behind? (Psssttt... a tear flowed in one of the scenes. Hehehe!)

The cook provided a comic relief, and she sure delivers her witty lines. c",)

After the movie, attended the anticipated Mass.

(Ooops... I got me a Canon EF 28-135mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS USM for my film camera, Canon EOS 300v.)
