The Prestige

The movie opened this week and just have to see it. Been seeing its trailer and my curiousity was aroused--not only because the movie would surely show how some tricks are performed.

It is a drama, fantasy, thriller movie. The Prestige was set in the time wherein magicians enjoy celebrity status. The flashy entertainer Robert Angier (Hugh Jackman) and shy genius Alfred Borden (Christian Bale) started as partner illusionists, but ended up as competitors as each one try to outdo each other by coming up with better tricks and shows. Knowing the trick is just an icing.. but the twists and turns of the story keeps the audience on their toes.

After the movie, there is still time to do some window-shopping before the anticipated Mass. At the Glorietta Activity Center, a housing fair is being held. There are lots and lots of people at the fair.

Then, attended the anticipated Mass and had dinner at Italianni's. We had our usual: Sicilian Chicken Salad (to share), Penne Verdure (pasta) and bottomless Dalandan.

TXT Chili's

Been reading good comments by viewers about the film and, obviously, have to watch it. Some says it is better than Feng Shui and Sukob, some commented on the actors/actresses performance, others on the cinematography. It is a horror, suspense, thriller movie and it just opened this week.

TXT is about Joyce who was being haunted through her mobile phone by Roman, her ex-boyfriend, who died of a car accident. When Roman was alive, nobody liked him as Joyce's boyfriend; and now that he is dead, he showed that he doesn't like Joyce's friends either, as they start turning up dead. Joyce turns to Alex to help her solve the mystery of how Roman manage to sow terror beyond the grave. The story is a combination of the movies Phone and Pulse. And the audience? You can hear them scream (not me... hehehe!)

After the movie, attended the anticipated Mass and had dinner at Chili's Grill and Bar Family Restaurant, a post-treat.

We started with Crispy Chicken Salad, followed by Triple Play, then Grilled Shrimp Alfredo Pasta. We would have added a dessert, but we can't seem to find a space to cramp it in.. LOL!

Till I Met You

Was able to have my niece tag along while I spend the day at the mall.

Our first stop is the moviehouse. Watched Till I Met You, starring Robin Padilla and Regine Velasquez. It is a comedy, romance, drama(?) movie. It is about Luisa (Regine Velasquez), an ambitious social climber, who managed to catch for herself an old rich man, Senor Manuel (Eddie Garcia), who thinks that she is wife material. Senor Manuel and Luisa went to the former's hacienda to marry and stay there for good. But Senor Manuel's right-hand man, Gabriel (Robin Padilla), sees through the intentions of Luisa for marrying Senor Manuel. When Senor Manuel has to leave town urgently, he entrusts Luisa to Gabriel. That's when the two find themselves falling for each other.

The movie is Pinoy-na-Pinoy. I was able to predict what will happen next. But inspite of it, enjoyed myself. (The trick in enjoying a film is not to expect much. hehehehe!) The audience was astounded when the last scene is the bus leaving and the credits were shown after. Everyone responded in chorus, "Ganun lang?!Ano nangyari?" hehehehe! I won't say what happened next. (winks) And... I agree with Gabriel's decision, who was treated like a son by Senor Manuel.

After the movie, we had our late lunch at Chef d' Angelo. Stopped by F&C Jewelry to buy the earrings on sale (30% off) as a birthday gift to myself. Then, we started looking for my niece's gift for her classmate. Was able to buy at Toy Kingdom. We then just strolled around Glorietta to while the hours away before the 5PM Mass.

That's when I remembered that Olay is having a promo called "Skin Discovery Weekend". We first stopped at my suki where I buy computer games then proceeded to SM Department Store where Olay is having their promo. Both my niece and I had our skin analyzed. And the result? My skin texture is 10 years younger than my age! YO! Hehehe!

We then attended the anticipated Mass and had dinner at The Pancake.

Octoberian Treat

It is the first day I report for work after my two day vacation. And... there's a surprise merienda treat for the October celebrants!

And in our department, we are four born in the month of October. It was just a small salo-salo, but it was fun.

...Second Day

Woke up from the ringing of my mobile phone. And I thought I would be "free" of office issues as this would be the second day of my short vacation... Na-ah!

Even after announcing that I would be on leave and have assigned my officer-in-charge (OIC), they still woke me up at 4AM! Tsk! Tsk! I wonder how would they feel if I wake them up when they were supposed to be on their vacation? Haayyyy...

After trying to solve their problem, went back to bed. Thus, woke up nearly lunch time. That's savings from having my breakfast. c",)

After lunch (we had the leftovers from last night), went online and decided to spend the rest of the day watching DVDs. And to make things cozy, it was raining outside! Well, I think the rest of the day would just be perfect inspite of the call which disturbed my sleep this morning. (Whistles)

My Day!

Woke up late (since I won't be going to the office today... and tomorrow!). There are already a lot of messages in my mobile phone. How nice of them to remember! c",)

Supposed to meet my friends and my ka-department for lunch at Cabalen in Glorietta. Because it is still early, first went to PC Corner at Park Square 1 to buy a network cable. Since they would still have to make the PC-to-Hub cable, paid for it and would pick it up after lunch.

Then, proceeded to Cabalen. Was the first there. Cabalen offers food from Pampanga. There is a daily buffet featuring all-time Filipino favorites along with Pampanga treats.

After lunch, went to SM Department Store to spend the remaining free gift certificate I received. Hehehe! Then, went back to PC Corner to pick up my network cable. Strolled a few minutes around Park Square 1 after making a "deposit" (LOL).

On the way to Greenbelt Chapel, there was a drizzle. Could it be some sort of blessing for me? The image of Our Lady of Fatima was at the Greenbelt Chapel.

Passed by Landmark Supermarket to buy some chichiria before proceeding home.

Since my niece would be going back to school around 5PM, I hitched a ride to buy our dinner at Emerald Garden Restaurant. After dropping her off at De La Salle University, we proceeded to St. Scholastica's College to pick up my other niece.

At the restaurant, we met Rosie, the manager. She still remembers me! Bought Emerald Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork, Emerald Fried Chicken, Beef with Broccoli, a vegetable viand (forgot the name), Shrimp Salad, and Birthday Noodles.

Back home, friends and relatives are already there. We then enjoyed our dinner.

Did that end the day? Na-ah!

My niece hyperventilated. Because of this, her hands/fingers became stiff. We have to bring her to the emergency room of Makati Medical Center. The doctor, then, have to inject her with a medicine that would calm her down. After a few hours, finally, we were able to bring her home.

Pulse for Coffee

Went early to the mall to have my hair cut. My niece had her haircut last week and I would try the salon she had her hair done. She also gave me the name of her hairdresser at Crispin Brittanico. It took me almost two hours at the salon, what with the shampoo, haircut and renewal treatment.

Then, had a quick lunch and proceeded to Glorietta 4 to watch a movie. Decided to watch Pulse.

Pulse is supposed to be a horror, mystery, thriller movie. The concept is okay, but I find the film dragging. It's about a group of friends who loses one of their friends as he died of suicide. Shortly after, while they are online chatting, they receive a message from him asking for help. One by one, they also experience the same fate as him... actually, not only them, but the whole world. Anyway, not all who watch the movie may get the rationale behind what's going on and, thus, not appreciate it. Oh, well...

After the movie, went around the mall to shop for a mousse. According to Lita, I should use one with my haircut. Hmmmm... Good thing I got a free gift certificate which I can use to buy one. And oh, it's nearing October 31, that's why the malls are decorated with Halloween theme.

It seems that every October, we can always enjoy free coffee. At Glorietta 4, there are several stands offering coffee for a free taste. The coffee they're offering uses Philippine coffee beans.

Afterwhich, attended the anticipated Mass and had dinner at Phobac.

I was supposed to have my haircut this coming Sunday. But this week, learned that my regular hairdresser, Celso, has passed away. Prayers for the repose of his soul...

Pfffttttt...

I was supposed to go to the parlor to have my hair trimmed. Unfortunately, Celso, my hairdresser is not around. (I asked Tita Leony to check if he is there before I go to his shop.) That's one plan that went pfffttttt...

After lunch, as promised to my niece, I accompanied her to the mall to buy the colored contact lens she's been raving about. When we were there, she finally decided that won't be needing one. Actually, the doctor who was there advised her to wait for six months. (She only had her corrective eye glasses for one month.) Wearing the colored contact lens so soon may not improve her vision. That's another plan/wish that went pfffttttt...

Since we were already at the mall, decided to buy me a ribbon. It has to be BIG! Well, able to buy one at Broadway Gems but the clip is not that big. I hope I can make do with it.

We then had our merienda at Iceberg's. We each have our own banana split and shared on the clubhouse sandwich.

Afterwhich, we went to look for my niece's hat (or is it cap?) and half-glove. Guess, she wanted to be a female Michael Jackson?! Hehehe! With her new hair cut, she looks like the Filipina actress Jody Sta. Maria. Ahhh... A female Michael Jackson-Jody Sta. Maria look-a-like. LOL!
