Narrow Path

Received a call from my brother's secretary informing me that the rosary bracelet which I asked my niece to attach an activated Benedictine Cross to just broke last night, a Friday, and he (my brother) can't find the Benedictine Cross.  Also, he feels something happening that night but he does not feel the pain.  Hmmm...  Good thing I have several blessed Benedictine Cross sacramental; thus, instructed them how to find where I keep them.  I gave the rosary bracelet with Benedictine cross as beads as well as a pendant of crucifix with Benedictine cross to my brother.

Since the movie I plan to watch is not being shown at Glorietta Cinema, decided not to watch a movie. Had lunch first at Food Choices, have my entries printed at Pixelpoint, went to Greenbelt Chapel and just enjoyed doing some window shopping at Glorietta.

Then saw the Guadalupe store which sells religious items.  Interested in some of the items.  Then, attended the anticipated Mass and had dinner at Italianni's.

The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones

A holiday, planned to watch a movie and buy the books of Fr. Jose Francisco Syquia.  Already called St. Paul's at SM Mall of Asia and they have the books on stock.

So, went first to SM Mall of Asia to buy the books (plus shirts on sale at Uniqlo) then was dropped off at Glorietta.  Bought the movie ticket at a discount (with my BPI Amore), had lunch at The Landmark, bought a washing machine (to replace our defective one) at Anson's, redemeed the eRaffle at Greenbelt 5 before watching the movie.

From http://www.themortalinstrumentsmovie.com

The Mortal Instruments:  City of Bones is an action, adventure, drama movie based on the same book.

When Clary slowly remembers memories which her mom tried to suppress, she learns that she is a descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a group of half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle protect the world from demons.  She is introduced to the world of demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves, etc. as she tries to look for her mom.  Since I have not read the book, after the movie ended, just have to know if Clary and Jace are really siblings.

After the movie, had a Belgian Espresso cupcake at The Vanilla Cupcake Bakery, dropped by the Greenbelt chapel before proceeding home.

List

Missed it by a few minutes; thus, decided not to watch the movie else I would not be able to attend the anticipated Mass.  So, made a list.

First, had lunch of Go Greek!'s lamb chop platter at Food Choices.  My usual "visitor" is back--the langaw (translation: fly).  This mambabarang (translation: witch) is persistent.  Then, bought a ring on sale at F&C Jewelry.  Will wear it on my index finger.

Went to National Bookstore to look for other books of Fr. Jose Francisco Syquia.  Did not find one but bought the following instead:  "The Last Secret of Fatima" by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, "The Essential Guide to Catholic Prayer and the Mass" by Mary Deturris Poust, "The Jesuit Guide to (almost) Everything" by James Martin, SJ, and "Between Heaven and Mirth" by James Martin, SJ.

Attended the anticipated Mass and our friend treated us at Chili's for her birthday treat.  Burp!

Conjuring R.I.P.D.

Initially, have no plans of leaving the house because of the rain; but, when I saw that The Conjuring and R.I.P.D. is already in the theaters, decided to go.

But first, went to The Landmark to buy some groceries.  Not panic buying.  At least, there would be something to eat in the house if we once again experience similar fury of Typhoon Maring plus habagat.

Then, bought the movie tickets at a discount (thanks to my BPI Amore).  Had brunch at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf of Salmon Scramble.

My first movie is "The Conjuring".  It is about one of the cases of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.  The case is that of the Perrons family whose house in Rhode Island was haunted by demons.  The house's initial owner/s practices witchcraft.  Even if the Perrons are not baptized, the Vatican approved the exorcism.

Not really that terrifying; but, I would consider this second to The Exorcism of Emily Rose for it is well-crafted.  For movies like this, it is not only the thrill of being afraid but being able to present that "he (Satan) is normally happier not to be recognized but to work in a hidden and secret way--there is less danger of stirring up opposition if he is unrecognized" [Fr. Benedict Heron, OSB].  Also, "the good news is that God's love for us and His protection is infinitely more than the hatred and power of the demons towards us" [Fr. Jose Francisco C. Syquia].

My next movie is "R.I.P.D.", an action, adventure and comedy film about two cops dispatched by the Rest In Peace Department to protect and serve the living from souls who refuse to move on.  Funny.

After had meryenda of Mongolian Quickbox at Food Choices, bought bottles for Holy Water at SM Makati as well as rain boots (must be because flood water entered our house), medicines to stock at home at Mercury Drug, and cupcakes at The Vanilla Cupcake Bakery, before proceeding home.

Typhoon Maring

Due to habagat caused by Typhoon Maring, woke up with flood water already inside the house.

Yesterday, the office announced no work.  Won't be going to work today because of the flood.  The last time flood water entered the house is Typhoon Ondoy.

ORATIO IMPERATA
(Deliverance from Calamities)

Almighty Father, we raise our hearts to You in gratitude for the wonders of creation of which we are part, for Your providence in sustaining us in our needs, and for Your wisdom that guides the course of the universe.  We acknowledge our sins against You and the rest of creation.

We have not been good stewards of Nature.  We have confused Your command to subdue the earth.

The environment is made to suffer our wrongdoing, and now we reap the harvest of our abuse and indifference.  Global warming is upon us.  Typhoons, floods, volcanic eruption, and other natural calamities occur in increasing number and intensity.

We turn to You, our loving Father, and beg forgiveness for our sins.

We ask that we, our loved ones and our hard earned possessions be spared from the threat of calamities, natural and man-made.  We beseech You to inspire us all to grow into responsible stewards of Your creation, and generous neighbors to those in need.

Amen.

Vatican Pre-Nuptial

Our office's camera club sponsored a Wedding Engagement Workshop conducted by noted wedding photographer Chito Cleofas.  Would be attending.

After, was dropped off at Glorietta and proceeded with my weekend movie.  Decided to watch The Vatican Exorcisms.

The film is said to be a documentary wherein an American film maker, Joe, went to Italy to document about exorcisms.  The crew followed Fr. Luigi while doing his exorcisms.  So basically it was supposed to be a compilation of clippings of what they are documenting.  If I were to document something, shouldn't I get a crew who at least knows how to focus when using a dSLR when taking the video?  (spoiler) Somehow I know that Joe, will eventually be possessed.  With his statement at the start of the movie that he wanted to meet the devil.  Ho-hum...

After, attended the anticipated Mass, had dinner of Mongolian Quick-Stop's Mongolian bowl at Food Choices, bought something at Uniqlo on sale, redeemed electronic raffle and had a Choco Cream Pie at Cupcakes by Sonja.  As usual, the fly who keeps popping whenever I eat is always present.  Begone mambabarang (witch)!

Took a taxi home and guess what?  While chatting with the driver, learned that his lineage are of mangkukulam (witch) in Mindanao.  Learned a lot!

RED 2

Obviously, I would be watching RED 2.

But first, brought my car for its maintenance check-up.  Will be able to pick it up on Monday afternoon.

Went back to home to pick-up my niece.  First, we went to Don Bosco to buy the Benedictine Cross.  Then proceeded to Glorietta.  Bought a ticket (she won't be watching the movie this time with me because she will be the one watching over her father at the hospital).  Had lunch at Food Choices, went to Uniqlo to browse again and my niece was picked-up by the driver to bring her to the hospital.  Since I still have time, had a cupcake at Vanilla Cupcake Bakery.

From http://www.red-themovie.com

Because of a leaked report about a cold war mission, Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) becomes part of a manhunt on a mission he does not know anything about.  This unites him with fellow retired (extremely dangerous) agent friends.  Action mixed with sense of humor always works.  Love Victoria!

After the movie, attended the anticipated Mass.  Then, went to the hospital to visit my brother and treat my nieces for dinner.

Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters

A holiday, thus, planned for a movie marathon.  It would Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters and RED 2.  Tomorrow, thinking of Wolverine.

Have my niece in tow, bought first the tickets and had breakfast at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.  Then, went to Mary Mother of Hope Chapel at The Landmark before proceeding to the cinema.

From http://www.percyjacksonthemovie.com/us/

A group of young demigods, was tasked to do a quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece that would help save their home.  And throughout the adventure, the prophesy hangs heavy on Percy, that is, he might be the one to either save or destroy Olympus.  There's action, comedy and great CGI.  Looks like there will be a part 3 as the prophesy still has to occur.

After the movie, since there is still lots of free time for our next movie, had lunch at Food Choices, went to Glorietta 5 to check-out the new stores in the said mall.  Loved Pylones!  So many bric-a-brac to find.  Also bought shirts on sale at Uniqlo.  My niece is smiling.... c",)

Then, on to our next movie.

While the movie was going-on, received a call that Teresita is doing a public scandal at our house.  What to do but leave the movie and go back home.  Lucky for her I did not find her there when my niece and I arrived or I will throw on her face that it is my money that helped her get out of Singapore jail.  Hmpt!

My brother was brought to the emergency room yesterday due to stroke.

Doors And Windows

Since I have an entry, would be attending our camera club's monthly meeting.

First, picked-up my entry at Photoline in Glorietta before proceeding to FEMI Building where our meeting will be held.  Did not finish the meeting because my friend who always drop me off at Glorietta after our monthly meeting would be leaving early.  So, left early.

Have a meryenda of Mongolian Quick-Stop's quick bowl and Cupcakes by Sonja's choco cream pie.   Then bought a Parker pencil, the pair for my Parker ball pen, at National Bookstore before proceeding home.

Went to St. Alphonsus Mary de Ligouri in Magallanes to go to the wake of a relative.  Before proceeding home, went to Pancake House to make pagpag, superstition of going first to another place before going home in order not to bring home the bad luck.

Oh!  One of my entries got 14th place... and don't know which one.  Weh!

The Purge

My movie weekend is The Purge.  And bought my movie ticket at a discount.  (wink)

But first, had lunch of Go Greek!'s lamb chop platter at Food Choices, have my entries for our camera club's monthly contest printed, and bought the Naturalizer shoes I've been eyeing for weeks.  Weh!  Our company's HR keeps on sending e-mail reminders about proper corporate attire, one of which is to wear at least 1 1/2 inch heeled shoes.

Back to my movie.  In order to address crime and overcrowded prisons, the U.S. government sanctioned an annual 12-hour period where any and all criminal activity--including murder--is legal.  The movie provides different opinions regarding this annual "purging"--through TV shows as well as the characters in the movie.  Man vs. man.  It shows what being human is, the frailties and what also make them great.  Just when you think it is all over, there is a twist.

From http://blumhouse.com/film/thepurge/

After the movie, attended the anticipated Mass, had dinner at Kaya, bought a Mass Card at National Bookstore, screw at True Value and espresso Belgian cupcake at Vanilla Cupcake Bakery (for my dessert).
