Posterity

Wanted to give a gift that would remember me by... and I just know which.  But first, walked my way to Glorietta in hope that I would meet my 10,000 steps.

My first stop is at General Photo where I will have my chosen image printed in 12x18.  I will also have the photo mounted on a frame; but before they mount it, will have to sign the photo... for posterity.  Hehehe!  My chosen photo is a bee seeping a flower's nectar, an image that was also published in one of the photography magazines locally.

While waiting for the photo to be printed, ate lunch at Bistro Ravioli for my usual spinach and feta cheese ravioli.  Looked for Essilor lens cleaner in the different optical shops in the mall.  Most of the shop have the item out of stock until I saw two stocks available at George Optical.  Bought one, of course.  LOL

Signed the photo and will pick-up the mounted image before I leave for home.  Stopped at Food Choices where I took one of the available seats so I can clean the OtterBox case of my iPad mini using the lens cleaner.

Decided to buy another pants for the office.  Luv Pazzo for they have a pair of jeans that looks like a slack but thicker than slack.  Like also their fit.  Bought one at SM which happens to be on sale.  Perfect!

Then, window shopped while waiting for the anticipated Mass to start--for the 10,000 steps.  Hehehe!

Attended the anticipated Mass, and was treated by a friend for her birthday at Buffet 101.

Wanted the typewriter sound when I type on my computer.  Found the Noisy Typer and installed it in my Mac.  Feels like a writer/ novelist now.  Haha!

Just a warning, type a bit slowly as sometimes the sound will stop.  If the sound stops, go to "Activity Monitor" and stop the Noisy Typer and start again the program.  But if you intend to stop the sound deliberately, simply type qaz123.

But first, set your Mac to run the Noisy Typer by setting System Preferences>Security & Privacy>Accessibility.  Add the Noisy Typer in the list and check the box.

And for Windows, the program is qwertick.

Rustproofed Glasses

Woke up early as I have to bring my car at Ziebart-CarSavers for its annual rebuffing and rustproofing.  It is a first come first serve basis and there is only a limited number of cars they are accepting to be serviced per day.  Got served.  LOL.  Edgar, the driver, will pick it up later around 4:30PM.

Went to Abesamis Eye Care for them to look at my issues on the progressive lens.  They have to return it as a back job.  Good!  Paid much and it is a waste if I would not be able to use the glasses.

Decided to walk my way to Glorietta in hope to meet my 10,000 steps daily.  It took me 2,000 steps.  Hehehe!  Bought a case for the ASUS netbook and Kwell shampoo as Nana got lice which she got after her vacation in Bicol.  Weh!  Just window-shopped after.

Attended the anticipated Mass, had dinner at Luk Yuen, bought surge protector (for my Samsung LED TV and Bose speakers) at True Value, then went home.  Oh!  Reached 11,500 steps!

Kingsman's Dragon Blade

A holiday due to the Chinese New Year.  So, decided to have movie marathon.  Also, would be looking for a 10 inch netbook to replace my MSI Wind which just conked out last Tuesday.  I always leave the netbook at the office so I can use it anytime without having to worry carrying it everyday to work.

Was early so had brunch of Eggs Ben at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.  As soon as the mall opened, went to the cinema's ticket counter to buy tickets.  Still closed.  So looked for a netbook that fits my criteria:  10 inches and about PhP15,000.00.  Found one at the Octagon Computer Superstore.  Was quoted a discount of PhP2,000.00 for the ASUS X102BA.  Did not buy it yet but will do so before I go home.

Was able to buy a discounted movie ticket for Kingsman: The Secret Service and Dragon Blade.

Eggsy is being recruited by Harry Hart to be a Kingsman, a private, independent spy agency dedicated to protect the world.  Each of the Kingsman is named after one of the knights of the round table.  If one of them dies, someone has to take his/ her place.  While Eggsy is undergoing training, Harry is investigating the death of one of their own.  Action, comedy--the likes of Roger Moore's interpretation of James Bond.  And I like Roger Moore's James Bond as some are kinda serious.  Imagine, even in the action sequence you can find something humorous.

Since I still have time for my second movie, bought a birthday gift for Judy at The Landmark.  Have it gift-wrapped.  Will pick it up later.

I wonder if Dragon Blade's story is really based on a true story that the Romans reached China.  Will have to search the internet.  Hehehe!  A disgraced captain of the protection squad and a Roman general will form an alliance to fight a common enemy.

After the movie, picked-up the gift, bought the netbook and proceeded home.

Picked-up the glasses I have ordered made since my progressive web lens/glasses broke.  The reading glasses is OK but there is a problem with the progressive lens when I tried to use it.  Sure made me dizzy looking at my computer screen.  Will have to return it tomorrow.

February Celebrants

I would be treating for lunch the February celebrants.  Our special guest is my niece Pam who is in the Philippines for a two-week vacation from her classes in South Korea.

Meeting place is the second floor of SM Mall of Asia (MOA) near Breadtalk.  Everyone was surprised to see Pam and was happy that she joined us.  Our lunch is at Burgoo.  It should be just a happy camaraderie all around until the soda fell on me.  Have to leave them for a few minutes to buy pants and shirt to replace my wet clothes.

Normally, we would be watching a movie after our lunch.  But because of the long queue to buy movie tickets for Fifty Shades of Grey which I experienced yesterday, told them that we would not be watching a movie because it might take some time before we can buy the tickets.

Dropped Nana at home and, with Mary, proceeded to Glorietta.  Have to (slow) mail the registration card for my new LED TV and DVD player.  Also, wanted to buy a speaker to have good audio when I watch using my new TV.  Weh!  I wanted a two speaker system only as I don't have a place to put a 2.1 speaker system.

Went to the different computer and appliance stores.  Was able to buy a Bose Companion 2 Series III Multimedia Speakers.

Paddington

Many on my checklist for today:
  • Bring car for servicing
  • Bring printer for repair
  • Buy Tsubasa's dog food
  • Print pictures of last year's birthday celebration to share
  • Buy stamp pad with violet ink
Check (at Honda Makati), check (at Canon), check (at Pet Express), check (at General Photo), check (at Office Warehouse in The Landmark).

Done the first three in time for the mall's opening.  Decided to buy the movie ticket for Paddington but there is already a long queue, which I am sure for Fifty Shades of Grey.  Instead of spending precious time, bought my movie ticket online using my mPass.

Had lunch at Food Choices and passed by Abenson where I bought a Samsung LED TV (the TV in my room is calling for replacement).  Aside from a discount, I got me a free Samsung DVD player.  Yes!  This would be my Valentine's gift for me.  LOL

A Peruvian bear looking for a home in London was adopted by a British family.  As much as the bear called Paddington needs a family, this British family also needs this little bear.  Sweet, funny, there are scenes that also tugs your heart.  Like!

After the movie, attended the anticipated Mass, had dinner at Bistro Ravioli, picked-up the TV and DVD player before proceeding home.

Rural Life

It is the first meeting of our camera club and it will be held at Fort Santiago.  Usually, it is the introduction of the new set of officers, contest mechanics and judging for the first theme.  Because there are big changes in the contest rules, the judging for the February and March Photo Theme will be done next month.

Unlike before where you can use your stock photos for each month's photo theme, all entries should be taken this year (except for the first theme wherein you can still use your stock photo).  The monthly themes are:

Feb   RURAL LIFE
Mar   SLEEP
Apr   GOLD
May   SOLITUDE
Jun   PINOY SUMMER
Jul   PARALLEL
Aug   VISUAL POETRY OF NON-LIVING (STILL LIFE)
Sep   BUHAY KALYE
Oct   UNITY
Nov   WATER IS LIFE

Since I usually just submit my entries last year, did not know that one of my entry for the Photo Theme "Graffiti" got 4th Place!  Weh!

But something I learned today (for health):
a)  Use of pedometer (target is 10000 steps daily)
b)  No carbohydrates, sweet, salt eight (8) hours before you sleep

So, right after the meeting, after being dropped off at Glorietta, looked for and bought a pedometer.  LOL

Unit

Feeling I lack exercise (now, now, now... don't start agreeing hehehe!), decided to walk along Ayala Avenue.  Would that be considered an exercise?

My walk led me to Greenbelt.  Since I have no plan of watching a movie, decided to drop by The Sun Shop and see if the unit I reserved for the loyalty plan would be available.  But first, lunch at Bistro Ravioli at their Greenbelt branch.

As a retention plan, I can get a free mobile phone.  Wanted the Starmobile Sky but it was not available.  So, made a reservation last December 19, 2014.  It is already 51 days and still have not heard of its availability.  And at The Sun Shop, the one who assisted me sounded mataray.  Hello?!  I may have availed the lowest plan available; but, she shouldn't be putting her nose down at me.  I can actually buy the unit in cash; but, why do so?  I have no plans of closing my account, I might as well get the freebie.  I have lots of freebie mobile phone at home.  In case one of my "angels" lost or needs to replace their mobile phone, I give the freebie to them.  We also have a mobile phone (aside from landline) used at home so that they can easily be contacted.  I got a unit and was told that said unit is actually reserved for another.  Hello, again?!  An excuse I cannot accept why I was not informed that a unit is already available.  One thing is sure, she met her match.

Then, went to Pixelpoint by Photoline to have my photo entries printed.  It closed shop.  Uh-oh!  There are two other photo labs at Glorietta.  The cheaper one (but not necessarily cheaper quality) is the General Photo where I had my photo entries printed.

Attended the anticipated Mass and had dinner at Tenka.

American Sniper Mortdecai

(Writing this while waiting for the start of my first movie.)

Because I reported for work last January 19, a holiday due to the Papal visit, took my offset today. Will be bringing my Olympus OMD EM-1 at Red Dot Philippines to have it repaired--the "catch" where the camera strap is connected to was disengaged from the body.  The service center is open only on weekdays from 10AM to 3PM.  Red Dot Philippines services several brands like Polaroid, HP, Coby.

Thanks to Waze, was able to find the office.  Was third in the queue.  Will be able to pick-up my camera within 20 working days.

After, was dropped off at Glorietta.  Would be having a movie marathon.  Bought discounted movie tickets for "Mortdecai" and "American Sniper".

But first, lunch of Spinach and Feta Cheese Ravioli at Bistro Ravioli.  Did some window-shopping. Was looking for a water bottle (not plastic) with wide rim so that it is easy to clean.  Oddly, hard to find one.  My search brought me to The Landmark, SM MakatiTrue Value, Gourdo's, and Make Room.

(Writing this while queueing for a ride home at a jeepney terminal.)

Mortdecai is about an underground art dealer that was tasked to look for a missing painting by Goya--this is because a known terrorist is also looking for it.  It was believed that a German official wrote the account number where untold amount of treasure is stored.  Oddly comical.

Still have time for my next movie, have fishball for merienda.

American Sniper is a true story about Chris Kyle who became known as "The Legend"--he keeps an "eye" on the marines who go house to house in search of terrorists.  It is more about the character and not a political context.  Am not really into drama but like!

Before proceeding home, bought the item I was searching for.  c",)
