Transformers: Age Of Extinction

Since I was not able to attend the anticipated Mass yesterday, plan to attend the Mass at Glorietta.  Was at the mall before it opens for I plan to have an eggs ben from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

While enjoying my breakfast, noticed a long queue with kids.  Noticed, too, banners of Mossimo inside the mall.  Putting two and two together... would it be possible Mossimo is looking for kid models?  Well, I guess parents would always think their kids are the cutest.  LOL

Since still have time, decided to take my Fujifilm Instax 210 to its paces.  I have not gotten good images on it.  But not this time.  Was able to take decent ones.  Finally!

Attended the Mass then bought a discounted movie ticket for Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Years after the battle in Chicago, the Autobots are being hunted by the government.  The premise is that man now knows how to make Transformers and would not be needing the Autobots anymore.  Obviously, a mistake.

After the movie, bought more Instax films.  Also ordered Greenwhich pizza and lasagna to-go for our meryenda at home.

Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar

A heritage tour at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar is the activity of our office's camera club.  And I would be joining them.  Meet-up time is 6AM.

We stopped by one of the gas stations along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) to eat breakfast at Chowking.

Trip to Las Casas is uneventful but the place is more than I expected.  It is a living museum reborn in a community typical of the 18th to 20th century Philippines.  The architectural treasures have been reconstructed from different parts of the country and rebuilt here.

Casa Mexico's materials came from the salvaged materials brought from the junk shop at Mexico, Pampanga.  It was built based on an old photograph which the owner used in reconstructing the house.  It now serves the Las Casas' Reception.

The Heritage Tour would start at Casa Jaen I, where the tour guides are waiting to welcome the guests.  Casa Jaen I served as a residence of the first Mayor of Jaen, Nueva Ecija.

What I remembered most about the tour is what tour guide Mica shared.  First, about the aliping saguiguilid and aliping namamahay while showing us Casa Luna.

Tour Guide Mica showing how clothes are ironed during the old times.

The other thing I remembered is about the story of Don Alberto Alonzo, his wife Teodora Formosa, and  Teodora Alonso (Jose Rizal's mother), while we were being shown Casa Binan.

And of course, not to forget the owner of Casa Quiapo, who has a peep hole.  If he does not like his guests, he throws water or urine on guests knocking at his door from this hole.

After the tour, we had a late lunch at Marivent Cafe (Casa Unisan).  #ThumbsUp for the kaldereta.

Then we spent time taking photos to our heart's content.

Left Las Casas around 4PM.  Stopped by at the Mount Samat National Shrine.  Then proceeded home.

Instax-ing

Another week with no movie.  Maybe next week when Transformers will be shown.

So, first have a quick lunch at Food Choices.  Then, went to The Landmark to buy socks for Mary, so she can wear it with her rain boots when she and Nana goes to the wet market.  Also bought groceries and left the items in the package counter.  Will pick it up before I go home.  Next is Mercury Drug to buy Berocca and Oracare.

And finally, my shutter finger is aching for.  Practice taking photos using my Instax cameras.  Went to Glorietta 4 Park for this.

Since Tita J asked me to help her with her netbook, met her at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.  The trust certificate error messages that were displayed is due to her netbook's battery.  She just need to set the date and time.

Attended the anticipated Mass and we had dinner at Wee Nam Kee.

First Image

No plans of watching a movie this weekend because I was able to watch during the holiday the films I wanted to see.

Wanted to take some shots using my new "toy" (Fujifilm Instax Mini 90).  At the same time, tick-off the things to buy:

  • PowerBase rechargeable AAA battery
  • AAA battery
  • round to flat power plug converter (for my Instax's battery charger)
  • case for my Instax
  • Sharpie (to write notes on my Instax's prints)
  • album for my Instax's prints
So, stopped first at Henry's Professional.  Tsk!  Tsk!  What's available is for the Instax Mini 25.

Next stop is lunch at Bistro Ravioli.  I again had the Spinach and Feta Cheese Ravioli in Pesto Sauce.  I also asked the server to take a photo using my Instax.

The first image taken using my new Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic

Went to The Landmark.  They have the plug converter but not the Powerbase rechargeable battery.  Wanted to buy all in one store (am not in a hurry anyway) so left for Ace Hardware.  Recalled they have Powerbase rechargeable battery.  I was right!  Was also able to buy a pouch at SM Makati for my Instax.

National Bookstore is next for the Sharpie.  Also was able to buy an album where I can store the prints of my Instax.  It is actually a trading cards collection album!  Hmmm....  a journal of images would be nice.

I was also able to find a store that sells the Instax Mini Film at a lower price.  Obviously bought the film to keep in stock.

Then, attended the anticipated Mass and had dinner at Kaya Express.

What I like about the images of my Instax?  It has the old film feel.

How To Train Your Dragon 2 The Edge Of Tomorrow

A holiday... and I plan to do a movie marathon.  Also, a good excuse to finally purchase the MBT shoes I reserved, which I plan to use for the office.  I hope it will pass the 1 1/2 inch heel.  LOL

First stop is an eggs ben breakfast at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.  A good place to hang-out until the mall opens.  And as soon as it does, bought discounted movie tickets for How To Train Your Dragon 2 and Edge Of Tomorrow.

Since there is still time, looked for a case for my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.  It already has an Otter Box case, but somehow I was able to break the stand, which also acts as a cover.

The movie takes place after five (5) years after the first installment, the Viking community, Berk, now co-exists with the dragons.  Hiccup is being pushed by his father Stoick to already take the responsibility of being chief.  But Hiccup prefers to expand his horizon with his dragon Toothless.  On his trips, he met a mysterious dragon rider, who has a link to his past.  I liked the first movie, and so is this.  #ThumbsUp

There is enough time between my first and second movie.  So, had a quick lunch at Food Choices, bought the MBT shoes, and bought chichiria at The Landmark.

"Edge of Tomorrow" is like "Groundhog Day".  PR officer Major William Cage was tasked to be at the front line to fight the invading alien.  First time to be in a battle, he dies.  But then, he wakes up again to repeat it all over again.  This would have been an endless loop but when Rita Vrataski told him to look for her when he wakes up, a purpose arises.  There's definitely action, humor at the side, and lots of imagination.

While waiting for my ride home, tried multiple exposure.

June Birthday Celebrants

I would be treating the birthday celebrants for June.  And they happen to be four of them:  Nana, Tita Leony, Jofel and Winston.  Today is also my Nanay's (+) birthday.

Meet-up is at SM Mall of Asia.  Often, we would be eating at Burgoo, Italianni's, Super Bowl of China, or Gerry's Grill.  Decided to treat them at Bulgogi Brothers so they can have a taste of it.  We had Premium Boneless Short Ribs, Bulgogi Bibimbap, Korean Japchae, and Tofu Steak.  Everyone enjoyed the food.  And the restaurant's staff is friendly and accommodating.

And for our movie?  Maleficent in 3D.  Even if this is my second time, still cried at the same scene.  And its not only me... even the guys with us shed a tear.  Weh!  Everyone agreed that the movie is great!  (Except for my Nana who slept throughout the movie... she always sleep when we are watching movies.)

Gifts

Won't be watching a movie.  Instead, will have to look for a gift for Nana.

First stop is lunch at Food Choices of Mongolian quick bowl.  After, have pictures printed as I plan to give each a copy tomorrow (I would be treating the June birthday celebrants).  On a whim, passed by Henry's Professional.  Bought a Cam-In camera strap for my Olympus OM-D EM-1.  One way to deter thieves from taking your camera is not to "broadcast" your camera's brand.

And now for my real intention, went to The Landmark to look for a gift for Nana.  Have it gift-wrapped.  Also bought a weighing scale.  Used to own one, which I bought with a gift certificate I won.  Somebody borrowed it and never returned it.

Picked-up the photos I have printed, snack of cupcake at Vanilla Cupcake Bakery, then, attended the anticipated Mass.

We had dinner at Bistro Ravioli.  We had Spinach and Feta Cheese Ravioli in Pesto Sauce, Seafood Spaghetti in Marinara Sauce, and Shrimp and Basil Pesto Pizza.  They gave a #ThumbsUp

Godzilla

It's our camera club's monthly meeting.  Decided just to drop off my entries and proceed to Glorietta.

Since there is a long queue, decided to buy a movie ticket for Godzilla using my mPass.  Since still have time, went to Greenbelt to have my mPass loaded, ate merienda at Pancake House, bought water and Genteal drops at Mercury Drug before proceeding to my movie.

The movie started with the scene in the Philippines where a mining operation unearths a massive prehistoric fossil.  It also unleashed something that ends up destroying a nuclear plant in Japan.  Fifteen years later, the monsters awaken, on their way to converge.  Now, man (unwittingly) has to rely on a monster to save earth.
